2011 in review

The new year is upon us! Where did the time go? It seems like my parents were right (yes, I really did say that!), the older I get, the faster time seems to go!

2011 was such a big year for my running, it scares me a little bit to see how hard I need to work to make 2012 even bigger.

Looking back on my year, I am THRILLED with my accomplishments and seeing how far I've come in my two short years of running. I set a goal for my second half marathon in May 2011 of getting a sub 2:00 time. With a lot of hard training, I barely made it in 1:59:55. For comparison; May 2010, I ran my first half marathon in 2:19:57.
Thanks mom & dad!

My next goal was to finish my first marathon. I did that, too! US Air Force Marathon was accomplished (race recap). Some days I still can't believe that I ran a marathon, but I have some wonderful Christmas presents that prove it!
Part of my medal/race shelf.
Jeff found this at Lift Your Sole
"There will be days I don't know if I can
do a Marathon. There will be a lifetime
knowing that I have."

Another goal I had for myself was running 1,000 miles in 2011. As of today, I have run 1,253.6 miles. Putting this into perspective, my first full calendar year of running was 2010 and I ran a total of 765 miles.

One goal that I have not managed to meet yet is to eat healthy without counting every calorie to maintain my weight. I've managed to pretty much maintain my goal weight (plus/minus a few pounds) which is obviously a positive. Maybe I won't ever be able to completely stop counting calories, but I sure do plan to try!

Looking at 2011, I have to ask myself, what's next for 2012?

Do you make Resolutions? Do you set goals for the year? Why or why not?
